Public launch — Week 16

01 / Two tools

One for editing, one for comparing.

The Editor

Upload a .docx (or start from a blank page), edit it with a real formatting toolbar, and save checkpoints as you go. When you download, you get a clean copy and a separate copy with every change marked — so you always know exactly what you're sending.

Open the editor

The Comparator

Drop in an original and a revised .docx and get a word-level redline in seconds — insertions, deletions, and table changes all called out, with the source documents one click away. Save the comparison and reload it anytime.

Compare two documents

02 / Why

Comparing two documents shouldn't mean squinting at two windows.

Word's own Track Changes is powerful but easy to get wrong — and most people end up eyeballing two drafts side by side instead. Redline Tool does that comparison for you, correctly, in seconds, and lets you edit with total confidence about what's actually changing before you hit send.

03 / Features

Built for people who actually read every line.

Word-level redlines

Every change is highlighted down to the word — insertions underlined, deletions struck through — not just "this paragraph changed."

Two clean downloads

A ready-to-send clean copy and a separate marked-up copy, both real .docx files that open in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice.

Full version history

Save a checkpoint any time you edit, then compare any two versions — adjacent, or ten apart — with one click.

Nothing leaves your browser

Documents are parsed, edited, and compared entirely client-side. Nothing is uploaded to a server, ever.

04 / Who it's for

Anyone who sends or receives a revised draft.

Contracts and legal

See exactly what a counterparty changed in a redline before you sign off on it.

Agencies and freelancers

Show clients precisely what changed between drafts, without a lengthy changelog email.

Anyone with two Word files

No Word install, no macros, no mailing a document back and forth to compare it.

See what changed. In ten seconds.

05 / FAQ

FAQ

Do I need to install anything?

No. Both tools run entirely in your browser tab — there's nothing to install and no account required to try them.

Is my document uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing, editing, and comparing all happen locally in your browser. Your files are never sent to a server.

What parts of a Word document are supported?

Paragraphs, bold/italic/underline, links, bullet and numbered lists, inline images, and tables. Documents with headers, footers, footnotes, comments, or existing tracked changes aren't supported yet — you'll get a clear message instead of a corrupted file.

Is it free?

Yes, both tools are free to use while Redline Tool is in early access.
